temescal condos, oakland

located in the heart of the vibrant and transit-oriented temescal neighborhood, temescal condos is a historic 1920's 4-plex containing two 1-bedroom and two 2-bedroom condos, a detached garage building and a landscaped rear yard garden with shared herb beds.

mike purchased the building in 2005 and we led it through an extensive renovation and condo conversion. since most of it had not been updated since its original construction, the renovation touched every building system, reconfigured each apartment's interior and replaced many of the finishes. we also preserved many of the building's original elements to create a rich blend of old and new.

the detached garage building, consisting of 4 side-by-side garages, was also renovated allowing each to function as a dedicated studio space. whether used as a studio or for storage, they provide each condo with additional flex space. an outdoor garden was created through the landscaping of an existing and neglected outdoor space that was located behind the garage building. although small, it provides each apartment with a quiet and private outdoor garden space in which to escape from the surrounding urban context.
